what a bird!

I guess "it's a bird" or "it's a kingfisher" are too vague to win this one. The only Kingfishers I can name are Belted and Green, and I don't think this is either. So, I'll have to leave this to a more worldly birder.
I must say that I'm checking the blog regularly now, eagerly awaiting the newest 'contest'!
just after you guys left Belgium last January, i spied one of these on the ponds nearby. They're stunning. It's not a green kingfisher, but it does have bluish-greenish coloration. You cannot help but rub your eyes in amazement when one of these flies by!

It is not so common to look at!
