merry xmas birdies

With subzero temperatures, birds burn mega energy and need to eat ALL THE TIME, so help your garden birds by putting out BIRD food - peanuts, black-oil sunflower seeds, suet packed w fruits or seeds or mealworms - and don't forget fresh water!

must apologize for misnaming the Zwarte mees, Parus ater, as the Black tit. Parus ater is most definitely NOT a Black tit - it's the Coal Tit!

Just googled it and discovered there ACTUALLY ARE 2 species of Black tits! Parus niger is the Black tit, and Parus leucomelas is the white-winged Black tit. Both live in Africa.

I first learn names of Old World birds in Dutch, which is why my English versions often suffer. Maybe if i paid closer attention to the Latin ...
