Carnaval
If this shot doesn't break the winter blues, I don't know what will. Here you see Thijs and Phoebe all dressed up for a Carnaval celebration (kick-off party before start of passover) at school. This is a BIG deal here, and the kids/schools invest lots of time and energy into organizing events. Grades 1-6 spent Friday afternoon dressing up and putting on a toneel (theatre performances) in front of the whole school, and Alex seemed to enjoy this very much along with eating 2 times frites!

What great costumes. The celebration sounds really neat! Glad to hear the kids are having so much fun.
Carnaval is like a 2nd halloween for the kids, except there's no candy. At school they get either pancakes or french fries for treats.
No wonder the Europeans are so much healthier than Americans - french fries as a treat! Glad to hear it!!
The kids are so cute! It's obvious who Thijs is, but who is Phoebe, an Indian princess? Know they loved those frites! Mom
Not exactly sure what Phoebe had in mind, but think she's some kind of Valentine's day princess since she had to wear red. Jewel on the forehead was a must too.
